Lufthansa and PrivatAir have been working together since 2002 to provide specialist long haul narrow body aircraft to complement the mainline Lufthansa fleet.
 
The first of these aircraft was a Boeing Business Jet operated on a wet lease basis on the Dusseldorf - New York route.

Following the success of this initial service, in 2003 Lufthansa asked PrivatAir to add two further 737 to the fleet operated on its behalf and over the years a wide range of specialist routes have been served. In recent years the configuration changed from a business-only cabin to a business/economy class cabin layout.

This partnership has allowed Lufthansa to develop new markets, defend existing markets and add frequencies with a cost-effective product offering for relatively high yield low volume routes.

The hallmarks of PrivatAir, which currently operates three B737-800 aircraft on behalf of Lufthansa, are flexibility, speed to market and excellence in service delivery.



2. Harry Hohmeister, Chief Executive Officer, Swiss International Airlines

 

In October 2005, Swiss International Airlines contracted PrivatAir to operate on an ACMI basis a Boeing BBJ2 (long haul version of the B737-800, fitted with auxiliary fuel tanks) to develop on our behalf the Zürich - New York Newark route.

The service was operated 6 days per week and the aircraft configured with 56 lie-flat seats in a single business class cabin, perfectly fitting the requirements of this high yield business market. The customer feedback was always positive, not just due to the superior product, but mainly due to the friendly and professional service.

The service proved to be highly successful commercially, with exceptionally high levels of customer satisfaction, and in 2008 we decided to renew PrivatAir's contract for a further 4 years.

During the period that PrivatAir was operating this route, the market has grown significantly especially with Continental joining the STAR Alliance in 2010 offering connections beyond their hub in Newark, justifying the introduction of a wide body Airbus A330-300 as of April 2012.

Our experience with PrivatAir has been very positive, they have proven themselves to be a highly reliable and flexible partner and we have no hesitation in recommending them to any potential airline customer.

In 2005, KLM decided to replace the B767-300 we were previously flying 3 days per week on the Amsterdam-Houston route with a Boeing Business Jet service operated 6 days per week by PrivatAir on an ACMI basis.
 
The unique range, capacity and capability of the PrivatAir BBJ offered us the opportunity to serve our high-yield business passengers with competitive frequencies, without flooding the market with excess capacity.
 
This allowed us to maintain our second daily service to Houston until the market had developed sufficiently for us to reintroduce a second daily wide-body aircraft on the route.
 
Reliability, high service standards and a professional, proactive business relationship are the hallmarks of our experience with PrivatAir.
